Talking To You

Talking to you was easy,

Once upon a time.

I could see you

I could feel your presence

I could reach out to you

Today, we are so far apart

All I can do is tap on this keyboard

And hope that you read what I want to say

Not the words, no.

The thought, the feel, the emotion

The knot in my throat

The smile on my face

The goosebumps on my arm

The water in my wet hair

I know you do not feel that

Because tapping here on this keyboard

Is not the same as

Talking to you.

I felt the knot in my throat, and the loneliness of tapping on the keyboard.

Very emotive. And yet, even tapping on the keyboard can bring all sorts of different feelings and emotions.

Oh wow. I really felt with this one. It’s hard having my partner so far away at the moment. Words help, sure. But…it’s not the same. Skype at least let’s them hear the changes in your voice and your facial expression but it can’t have them feel the goosebumps on your arms. Great poem! Thanks for contributing this week. 🙂

Thank you so much Ermisenda! And i know exactly what you mean. I have been going through a somewhat similar situation and it is so disconcerting at times!

Oh yeah. That’s the world we have created. Sad and scary.

“No man is an island…” said John Donne
But, when all is said and done
    One sometimes, just sometimes, needs
to be cut off, from all else, the heart bleeds
    and bleeds alone.

Great words. Really touching. Somehow i could connect to each word down there. Thanks a lot for sharing.
